WORLDFEST 2014Worldfest was our huge, campus wide charity event consisting of live performances, food, and cultural booths. Thrown by FACES, Worldfest was an event when UNT united to enjoy cultures across the globe. Benefits went to Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home, a local children's home in Denton, TX that brings healing and hope to families in need.

PERFORMERS AT WORLDFEST 2013-14
Singcerity is a quartet dedicated to making great music and spreading the joy of singing with others. Made up of four UNT music majors, Singcerity is based in Denton TX and performs all types of music with a focus on the style of barbershop.
UNT’s Mariachi Aguilas performs traditional and contemporary mariachi music. The ensemble consists of students from across disciplines who share a passion for this vibrant music of Mexico. In addition to playing, they will share information about the history of mariachi, the origins of the repertoire, and about the structure of the pieces.
Citing influences as diverse as Beyonce, Jessie J, VV Brown,Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Janelle Monae, Michael Jackson, OutKast & Prince. Kassy has created a unique sound within the classifications of Pop/R&B. It’s easy to see that with her natural charm, dynamic stage presence and collection of outstanding original music, Kassy Levels is the complete “star” package.
The UNT Korean Culture Exchange is an organization at the University of North Texas created to encourage a cultural exchange between American students and Korean foreign exchange students.
In Hindi, ‘Dhunki’ means ‘spellbound.’ The name also contains the Hindi word ‘Dhun,’ which means ‘tune’ or ‘melody.’ This Hindi name symbolizes this group’s focus on the areas of South Asian music and culture. Our goal is to spread our culture throughout the community by the means of a unique style of music in which Eastern and Western themes collide in carefully arranged mashups.

The purpose of this organization is to spread the musical and performing arts, as well as Indian culture, across the University of Texas at Dallas and to represent the University of Texas at Dallas at local, state and even national level competitions as a Bollywood Fusion dance team.
The University of North Texas 2:00 Steel Drum Band is a popular ensemble in the North Texas area. The twenty-five member steel band is comprised of undergraduate percussion majors at UNT. In addition to numerous tours and performances at music conferences, the 2:00 Steel Drum Band has also been featured at Percussive Arts Society International Conventions. With two steel drum bands, UNT has been a leader in steel drum performance since the establishment of the steel band program in 1982. The 2:00 Steel Drum Band’s first CD was released in 1999.
The Indian percussion ensemble developed in South India as early as the 4th century B.C. due to the availability of a wide variety of percussion instruments. These instruments include Mridangam, Ghatam, Kanjira, and Morsing. Traditionally, the ensemble is improvisatory in nature with a healthy spirit of competition among the performers. An "Avanaddha Kutapa," consisting of 24 drummers, is still performing during important rituals in the Temple of Tooth in Kandy, Ceylon. The ensemble performs compositions based on Karnatic music, a South Indian microtonal, modal art form which is built upon a highly developed theoretical foundation, with melody and rhythm as its two vectors.
The Filipino Student Association is a cultural organization, open to students from all backgrounds! UNT FSA is just one of the many chapters a part of the Philippine Students of Texas. Although FSA will make strides in becoming an involved organization on campus, there are great hopes to also becoming a serious competitor in PST's annual Good Phil Games.
The UNT Green Tones are all about boosting the swagger of the a cappella culture in the north Texas region and across the nation. In October 2008, two UNT alumni, Brian Alexander and Trent Bynum, had a shared vision for a co-ed a cappella collegiate group and asked a few friends to join. Over the course of recent years, Green Tones was formed. They put on collaborative concerts each semester along with UNT's all-female and all-male groups, and also host annual "Mistletones" concerts during the holidays. the Green Tones also compete in regional collegiate a capella competitions, including the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA).
